“Because you have little faith,” he said. “I assure you that if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Go from here to there,’ and it will go. There will be nothing that you can’t do.” – Matthew 17:20
We are now in the season of fall. It’s hard to believe it’s October already, it seems like yesterday we were celebrating the 4th of July. I really enjoy the fall season, the weather turning cooler, the colorful leaves and the way the sunlight shifts in the sky. I find enjoyment in the way the angle of the sun changes and it brings a different sense of lighting to all of creation. This change to me has a dramatic effect on the fall leaves. I hope that you take the time this fall to connect with nature by admiring the fall colors and enjoy the cooler temperatures.
With the fall season comes our annual Charge Conference. Charge Conference is our meeting where we do the administrative work of the Church. This year we will be holding a cluster conference like we have done for the past few years. We will be gathering for a time of worship with the folks from Shiloh, Kenwood, St. Andrews and Gum Spring. Our District Superintendent, Pete Moon, will be preaching. I hope that you can join us for an uplifting message and time of worship on October 21st at Gum Spring UMC.
In addition to all of the other normal fall activities, this fall we will be having a worship series on the book of Job. We are delving into those emotions that all of us have felt at one time or another along our faith journey. We will be exploring how Job’s journey took him though the process of being disoriented by what was happening to him. How Job felt deserted by God since he was having trouble seeing and feeling God’s presence in his life. Then we will hear from God and see how Job is restored in his relationship with God. It will be an exciting journey that I hope you will join us for in Worship.
      Peace,
      Rev. Owen Taylor
