How Do We Reach New People?
How do we be disciples of the living Christ?
By now most of you have read these questions and some have heard the presentation given to both congregations on April 12th. Members of both Rouzie’s Chapel and Beaverdam UMC attended “How to Reach New People” training in February and expressed excitement about how much they thought it could make a difference to our spiritual community and the earthly community in which we live. As a result, the congregations have developed a “Vitality Team” to work on reaching new people on behalf of both our churches.
We read in John 13:31-34 that Jesus gave us a new commandment. “Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.”
In February 2015 the training gave us a model to use as tools.
          Principle thoughts were -
               * People will not come to you!
               * Where and how to find people?
               * How do we minister to them?
               * How to increase our Pastor’s presence in our community?
We ask, “What did Jesus do-Where did he go? Why was he so effective? Did he have some novel methods?” He knew powerful principles that we also can employ. What was the secret? He loved them at every turn, whoever they were in society. He was personal with them and his message was personal.
Through faith, hard work, prayer, intentionality and monthly coaching from our workshop presenters the Vitality Team anticipates the West Hanover Charge moving forward with this new high energy program. In April both Administrative Councils gave their approval for the Vitality Team to proceed with this outreach and committed the funds to do so.
We ask for you to join us in prayer and enthusiasm for what we feel is a wonderful opportunity that we have been graced with. Should you wish to learn more or become a part of the Vitality Team creative process please contact one of your team members: Marcia Hester, Julie Durando, Anissa Dougherty, Autumn Shaffer, and Christy & Rob Monolo from BUMC; and Nancy and Dick Lear, Jay Marsh, and Roy & Hollis Cooley-Sassano from Rouzie's Chapel.
